The mission

of Legal Support and Technology is to provide resources, services, and solutions that support the successful practice of law in the Office of the Attorney General. In particular, the section provides law office management, legal document processing, research, information, electronic discovery and litigation support services to over 1,500 executive, attorney and professional staff in the executive and legal divisions. The section is organized into four areas and programs as summarized below:

Legal Operations Branch

supports the operations of the six law offices of the Attorney General, provides a broad array of administrative, office, clerical and legal secretarial support services, maintains the case docket system, central files, and provides reproduction, mail/overnight courier, and Notary Public services.

Law Library Services

maintains six full-service law libraries in the legal offices, provides reference and research, compiles legislative histories, conducts and coordinates training for Lexis and Westlaw, arranges for inter-library loans, and orders required publications for the legal divisions.

Law Practice Support Services

provides electronic discovery and litigation support processing services, document scanning and conversion services, and trial presentation support services, maintains and provides training for litigation support software systems, administers civil and criminal law brief bank systems, and provides consultation on managing discovery and evidence in litigation.

Staff Services Unit

provides technical assistance and some training services to enable attorney, paralegal and secretarial staff to proficiently use supported desktop software programs, provides technical assistance to secretaries in formatting and filing legal documents and storing them in ProLaw, the department's case management system, coordinates the statewide docketing program, manages video conferencing services throughout the state, and administers the legal divisions’ Intranet system.
