Registration Information
WHO MUST REGISTER
All persons who wish to serve as private conservators, guardians or trustees, or who are currently serving in any of these capacities, must register with the Statewide Registry, unless exempted by law. (Probate Code sections 2850 et seq.)
Registrations are valid for three years. It is the registrant's responsibility to renew the registration on time and to check with the Department of Justice prior to registering to determine if there are any new requirements.
Persons who are already registered as a conservator or guardian and who are required by the new law to register as a trustee must submit a new registration to serve as a trustee and must pay a new fee. At the option of such registrants, the trustee application may include in it registration as a conservator or guardian, as applicable, thereby extending the term of their current conservator or guardian registration and enabling them to pay only a single registration fee at the time of renewal. Please see the instructions for completing the registration application for more details.
