The California Medical Board is the state agency that licenses medical doctors, investigates complaints and disciplines practitioners who violate the law. The board will refer cases warranting legal action to the Attorney General.
The California Medical Board performs similar functions for those in the affiliated healing arts, including registered dispensing opticians, spectacle lens dispensers, contact lens dispensers, licensed midwives and research psychoanalysts.
